Americans love trucks. It doesn’t really matter why – trucks sell in the U.S., and if anything is going to put an end to that reality, it certainly won’t be record-low gas prices.
Outside of the pickup segment, however, the race for the hearts and minds of American drivers is wide open. Midsize cars, SUVs, minivans, and crossovers make up a large percentage of the cars on the road, and any successful car manufacturer needs to have a stable of appealing models in those segments.
Well, the results of J.D. Power’s 2016 Automotive Performance, Execution, and Layout (APEAL) study are in, and Kia vehicles won the Midsize car, Minivan, Midsize SUV, and Compact Multi-Purpose Vehicle segments!
If you really think about it, that’s a staggering achievement. The Kia Optima, Kia Sedona, Kia Sorento, and Kia Soul are the most-appealing vehicles in their respective segments. That means more than half of the vehicles we have on our lot are the most exciting and loyalty-inspiring vehicles in their class. One in two Kias is more appealing than any of its competition.
The Soul, which edged out the C-Max and Prius in the Compact Multi-Purpose Vehicle segment, earned its crown by scoring “Among the Best” results in overall performance and design, comfort, features and instrument panel, and style. The Soul scored twice as well as the third-place Prius!
The Sedona, which we’ve been shouting about for some time now (I will insert links to previous articles about the Sedona here,) was singled out for its attractive styling, high-quality interior materials, V6 engine, and luxury options. J.D. Power calls the 2016 Sedona “The Best Yet” in Kia’s long line of minivans.
The Optima, which competes directly with some of the best-selling vehicles in the world, was praised for its “strong value ratio, extensive standard feature list, powerful engine lineup, and stylish new design,” as well as its hybrid option. Those qualities paint a very clear picture, and it’s not of your average, everyday midsize car.
The Kia Sorento, which was completely redesigned for 2016, received a “Among the Best” score in overall quality and overall performance and design. Its multiple engine options, versatile, customizable interior, and available all-wheel drive put it in a league of its own, even among other SUVs.
As if taking first place in the Initial Quality Study wasn’t enough good news for one month, Kia won as many segment APEAL awards as any other badge, and even managed to muster a higher overall APEAL than one luxury brand! We’re thrilled to offer Southern Oregon a line of vehicles that’s receiving accolades and awards across the nation. If you haven’t seen these vehicles up close – stop by Butler Kia and check out this award winning line of cars and SUVs. We’re open 7 days a week!
